School Internship – Introduction
School Internship is an important practical component of the D.El.Ed course. It provides student-teachers with an opportunity to experience the actual school environment and apply the knowledge and teaching skills learned during their teacher-training programme.
Objectives of School Internship
- To understand the functioning and organization of a school.
- To develop effective teaching skills.
- To prepare and use Teaching Learning Material (TLM).
- To conduct classroom teaching and learning activities.
- To understand students’ individual differences and learning needs.
- To develop classroom-management skills.
- To participate in school activities such as assembly, sports, celebrations and co-curricular activities.
- To develop communication and professional skills.
- To observe and understand the role and responsibilities of a primary teacher.
- To gain practical experience and confidence as a future teacher.
